Travis Wall Vacate Tower to Snap Queens Win Streak

Hampton, VA - Travis Wall, who stepped away from the cockpit for a majority of the winter touring season to be the official race director, was allowed down rom the booth to compete at his home track looking to end Brenden Queen’s four race win streak. Queen looked to be on track to pick up win number five by posting the quickest time in happy hour and winning the pole with a time of 14.598 (97.411 mph). Teammate Colby Vance lined up on his outside followed by Wall, Burnett, and Call.

When the green flag was displayed and everyone got settled into a rhythm, Queen was forced to hand the lead over to Wall when he felt the pace was a bit too quick too early. However, once Travis made his way around the No. 03, he set a pace that was matched by none other. Max Rev Motorsports diver, Steven Burnett, looked to be the only one on the track that could match the speed of Wall. In a race that looked to go green all the way was slowed on lap 94 allowing drivers like Burnett, Queen, Vance, and Davis to cool the tires down and mount another attack on Wall.

The old saying in racing was true this past week in the KeenParts.com Showdown at Langley Speedway that cautions breed cautions. With just over 25-laps to go, tires worn out, the entire field bunched up, and Brenden Queen looking to extend his win streak, the heat was turned up on the fire quick. We are talking like cam2 on the camp fire heating up. Three more cautions would follow in the closing laps that included almost every single driver left on the racing surface.

Hanging on to the lead after a handful of late race restarts, Travis Wall was able to cross the finish line first and land himself in Dale Lemonds Victory Lane, endings Queen’s four race win streak, and collecting his first win of the season. After both drivers were involved in separate caution periods late, Queen was able to rally back to finish second. Teammate Colby Vance continued his podium finish streak finishing third. Austin Davis, a new comer to the tour but also races on a weekly basis at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway crossed the line fourth. Burnett was able to cap the night off with a top five finish.

“It’s always great to get a win,” Wall said in victory lane after the race. “It’s even better when you get it a place like your home track with so much history. I really have to thank Steven [Burnett] for allowing me to come down out of the tower to race at my home track. This is one of the few tracks on the tour that we have turned actual laps at and it obviously helped us tonight. We were able to get our front early and set a pace that no one could really follow."

The tour will pack up and head south to Concord, North Carolina to the high speed, high-bank, tricky triangle of Concord Speedway. With three very different corners and a worn out surface, drivers will have to be up on the wheel to power their Super Late Models around for 125-laps. Parks Brothers Racing will have continued LIVE coverage of the Turn Four Racing Old School 125 on their YouTube channel.
